
Microsoft changed that Thursday by adding the latest version of its Edge browser to Xbox consoles.

If you are one of the alpha testers, you should be installing the latest Xbox update. Other important Edge browser features include extensions support, vertical tabs, and Collections among others. It means Xbox users will be able to play Stadia games directly from their console browser with ease. There are even speculations that this Chromium-based browser can even support Google Stadia. It offers better compatibility with web services that were not possible with the legacy version. The new Edge browser is capable of providing you with a browsing experience similar to what you get on desktops. The latest Xbox Alpha skip ahead build includes the Chromium version of Microsoft Edge /C34d59UYuJ The browser is fully compatible with the Xbox controller but the team has not added support for the keyboard and mouse yet. This is an expected behavior considering it is not an alpha release and not a stable one. The browser is usable but is reportedly slightly buggy as well.

It is reported that all eligible testers will see the new Edge browser in their apps library after installing the latest update. The new browser version replaces the old legacy Edge browser and improves the web browsing experience significantly. It is available only for Alpha Skip-Ahead group members with an Xbox One or Xbox Series S/X gaming console. Microsoft has now started testing the new Chromium-based Edge browser on Xbox consoles.
